It'll be interesting to watch the popularity of HyperPad grow. Even the regular iPad has an A16 chip now. I'm old but capacity per dollar from when I started went from $10,000+ entry to $300

That’s a great point. The drop in cost compared to capability is honestly kind of wild when you think about it. What used to require expensive workstations is now sitting inside something like the Apple iPad (10th generation), and chips like the Apple A16 Bionic have more than enough power for creative work that used to feel out of reach.
Tools like hyperPad make that shift even more interesting because the hardware and the software are both lowering barriers at the same time. Someone can pick up a relatively affordable tablet and start experimenting with game ideas without needing a full traditional dev setup.
It feels similar to earlier waves in tech where better access to hardware suddenly expanded who could create things.
Makes me curious though. If hardware is no longer the big barrier like it used to be, what do you think the real challenge is now for new creators getting started?

You have your character sprite. You want to have multiple graphics (the copies) in your scene with the same sprite. Make sure the copies are semi-transparent (tap the color wheel and adjust the opacity).
Your copies shouldn't contain any logic from your character - the only logic for them to have is to follow the player. You can use a Frame Event and connect it to a Move to Object. For the first object, select the copy (itself) then select the player object for the second one so that the copies move to the player. Make the duration 0s. This makes your copies move to your character every frame, so it appears that they're following your player.
Then after Move to Object, you can connect a Move By and move the object a random offset. Make sure the duration is 0 for this too. This will give you that distinct effect you're going for.

You'll have to take account of the z order of objects - objects with a higher z order will render over objects with a lower z order. For example, the floor could have 0 as the z order whereas the cube could have 1 as the z order; the cube will be on top of the ground. You can treat the z order as the vertical position in 3D space and it should do the trick.

Realistically the demand isn't that high for this, and it's something that can be easily abused with the hub.
So unlikely for us to add it any time soon. If something else in the future relies on this, or this gets added as a byproduct that sure. But it's not something that is currently on our roadmap.

I think the big issue is people biting off more than they can chew and lose motivation. Especially for a first game.
Usually what happens, people discover an app like hyperPad realizing they can finally make games they've always dreamed of. But ignore the fact that a lot of the games they've been playing and inspired by were created by larger teams or people with years of experience.
Thats why when people start, I always recommend starting with a small game. Do something like Pong, or brick breaker. And then try to add to it, make it more unique and exciting. From this you will really learn the toolset, and not lose motivation so quickly.
You don't need to make the next GTA, or epic RPG as your first game.
Start small, and celebrate the little wins along the way.

One of the most important mechanics in any game is collision—when two objects in your game world interact with each other. In hyperPad, you can set up collision behaviors to detect when your character hits an obstacle, enemy, or collectible. From there, you can trigger actions like losing health, collecting points, or changing scenes.
For beginners, collision detection is a must-learn concept. hyperPad makes it easy with drag-and-drop behaviors, helping you create interactive and engaging gameplay without any coding required.
