Before adding a full blown search and indexing and all the rest, just make Comments findable.
In this way, anyone making something they need to remember/find and return to often can drop a comment that reminds them, and then go through the comments whenever they need to find the one they want.
How to use this facility?
In the Scene Editor, right above the 4:3 Aspect Ratio icon, pop another icon that looks something like a comment icon might for those in the know... and have touching it show a list of comment titles and their host object just like picking an Array does.
Something like this:
