I’m not really sure how it all works. Can someone explain it to me? Also, I heard somewhere that hyperPad can publish your app for you- how does that play out?

Well you need an apple developer license/account. This costs $99 a year.
You can learn more about that here: https://developer.apple.com/

Next you will need a mac to run apples developer tools (XCode).

Finally with hyperPad you simply export your project, you're then sent an XCode project that you open on your mac, set up certain parameters, then submit that to Apple using your Apple developer account.

We used to offer a service that would have us submit on your behalf (to your developer account), but we no longer offer that.
