Weird duplication bug?
-
So I’ve been working on something for some time now and I went to test my game, but as soon as it began to run, I noticed that there were two player objects instead of one and only one of them moves.
I went back to the editor to discover that I’m no longer able to tap on the original object to select it. Oddly enough, I can tap on the duplicant player object, but in doing so it selects the original.
My original player object no longer collides with other objects as it should (I suspect it jumped layers or something).
-
It’s actually happened to me before. It usually seems to occur whenever I use the box select tool to move multiple objects. And conveniently, it always happens to the object with the most complicated behaviors.
-
I think I've had this as well, though I could never really reproduce it. I don't remember how I got around it, I think deleting one of them fixed it or something, or maybe duplicating it, idk I'd back up project first lol.
-
@Aidan-Oxley I actually tried deleting the object and both instances remained, I just couldn’t select either one afterwards lol
-
@bosswave make sure you have a backup of your project. Then go into project settings and press clean project. It should fix it.
-
@Hamed Thanks! Thankfully I had a back-up. I just wanted to bring it to your attention just in case :)

@Hamed when selecting clean project is it suppose to look like this? All I see is a real quick flash. I made a video of what I’m talking about. Not sure if it’s working or if it’s glitched out. This is on the beta when selecting clean project.FullSizeRender.mov

Oh, I just restart the app and it usually fixes
-
Yea, this is a weird bug... I don't know how it happens, it seems to happen randomly for me but it is so rare. It happens around the time I duplicate objects, and then something is out of place at minute's notice.

if it ends quickly, then that means there isn't much to clean. It cleans up any lingering behaviours, or objects that were never quite deleted.
