Has anyone been following the wwdc 2020? Today they mentioned that keyboard and mouse support is now available for games. Which to me is some big news. Be cool if hyperpad can integrate this new feature to like joystick controls that can be controlled with the up and down arrows or even the mouse.

What we’d like to do is make a button mapping system that separates the input device. This will be more required once we’re closer to Mac and Apple TV exporting.

On iOS side we’re waiting to see how Apple actually deals with controllers and inputs. We’ve been burned in the past by prioritizing game pad support only for apple to not really suppprt it and change how it works entirely.

@Murtaza apple tv exporting. That sounds exciting. Also with the big announcement with big sur and apple making the leap to apple silicon where they promise it can now handle better gaming experience. Definitely something to look forward to designing a game that can play on the mac. Might even open some gates on publishing your game for steam.

@SplitMindGaming well with apple switching to their own ARM processors they are actually losing you to run iOS apps directly on (non-intel) macs.
So theoretically hyperpad games should work on macs with no extra effort on your end. Of course controls for most games will be terrible with the mouse acting as a finger. But for puzzle games and simple tap games it should be seamless. Of course we won’t know until it’s all available to us.

@Murtaza your right i remember seeing that. But i think thats more like an ipad\iphone emulator for the mac. More on the lines like how bluestacks work for the mac hosting as an emulator for android apps.

@SplitMindGaming similar. Except not emulated since it will be only on future arm macs.
