    It seems like pushing an object to the back or front means to the back or front of the entire scene, not the back or front of a layer.

    Am I understanding this correctly?

      No, the layers are are also ordered on top of each other. The global objects layer is at the top, and the scene UI layer is next. That cannot be changed.

      You can edit the other layers as you please (additions, names), and order them manually. Editing an objects' Z-order (whether in the canvas or in an objects' behaviors) will only change the outcome inside of that layer.

        @GameCRAZY That is what I thought should happen. But my background layers are showing through my character layers.
