SUGGESTION: Add a REAL sprite editor
-
I wish hyperpad had a sprite editor. Space on my iPad is getting low. Or just a simple paint tool would be great too
-
@XGames Hyperpad is for making games, not artπ it would be better to get an app designed specifically for that purpose, like assembly, drawing desk, adobe sketch, adobe draw, sketch club, etc. That way Hyperpad can focus on features to help us put our art to use in a game!π

As @iTap-Development says, hyperPads focus is to make the game/interactive parts. There are better tools designed for making graphics and sprites. Sice we have an entire game creation platform that we need to continue to develop, we wouldn't be able to dedicate the time needed to make a good graphics editor. Instead of making a subpar graphics editor we're focusing on making the core hyperPad editor experience bettor.

The problem is that I dont want to leave the app. Also, as I said before, my iPad is running low on space. iPads are not computers. Also, big game engines like GameMaker have built in sprite creators/editors. I would just like to create art for the games I create inside the app. Please?
-
@XGames you can use the five-finger gestures to switch between apps easily! As for space on your iPad, look in your usage and see what's using your space. Maybe get an app like OneDrive or Dropbox to put your photos or files in! There are LOTS of solutions!
On a side note, what is game maker? -

Gamemaker is a desktop app.. Desktop computers have a lot more power and are more capable than an iPad. Pretty unfair to compare the two. On the iPad (especially older models) you have very little memory (ram).
Integrating another FULL app within hyperPad is going to take more resources than the iPad already has.Notice how hyperPad crashes some times? These crashes are mostly due to the lack of memory on the iPad. Imagine what would happen if we added a sprite editor.
Also, we're a really small team. We don't have the manpower or resources to work on a full sprite editor for hyperPad. GameMaker is created by a larger company with a larger team and millions of dollars in funding.

@Murtaza yeah I was going to mention the ram but forgot.

A tiny paint program is too much? All I would like to do is make something without saving it to my ipad. Also, for me MCPE takes more memory and it doesn't crash -
@XGames you could make your own pixel editor :P It might be hard to crop though, especially if you want a transparent background... Anyway, if they add a paint program, it would increase the size of hyperPad, so you might as well install another app of a few mb...

@XGames
MCPE is a game with strict rules. hyperPad is an app that allows you to make mobile games with unlimited programming. If the crash isn't a memory issue, (mostly these), it's often a logic issue. Logic issues mean users made the app crash with bad behaviour usage. There's nothing we can do here with logic issue crashes, that's on you.And memory/performance is only one issue. As I said we're a small team and need to focus. We're already spread thin as it is, and adding on another HUGE task for something that won't be as good as a dedicate app is not worth our time, or even the communities time. There are so many other things we can do instead of this.
Also, it may seem like a small task for a simple sprite editor. But it's still lots of work. There's the planning phase to see how it will integrate with the existing hyperPad code, theres setting up the architecture and code, theres designing a UI to make it usable and since it's a complete new app it's a whole new UI, there is the actual programming part to make it all work. Then there is testing, testing to make sure it works, testing to make sure it's usable. After testing it requires more changes, either because of bugs or user feedback on usability. Then more coding and testing.. Then after 5 months or more, we can release something.
It's hard work. If it was so easy, there would be more apps like hyperPad.. Or even you would make your own drawing app. Also, remember we're a business and we have bills to pay and it costs a lot of money to run hyperPad. We have to make decisions that are best for the business. Sometimes this means we can't add certain features to hyperPad.
