By default, the default scene and overlay "Pause" included in a new project are set to be preloaded.
If you are not a developer, and accidentally uncheck these, then attempt to recheck, you will be prompted to upgrade to pre load a scene or overlay.

There are some technical stuff behind the scenes, it's just easier to keep it this way. There is also help window the first time you open the scenes/overlays saying you must be pro to enable.
