Copy logic and make instances of objects
Hi, having fun with hyperpad but I’m a bit confused, how can I copy logic from one object to another or to a scene? Also, is there any way to make a “prefab” object? Let’s say you have an original “model” object with it’s logic and you use it to make instances of it so that if you want to make any change to it’s logic you just have to do it once in the original and the instances just inherit it’s properties? Is that possible in hyperpad? If not that’s a real shame, it makes the work so much harder.
Its currently not possible, but it is something we're actively planning on adding!
A work around right now is to copy an object to your your global UI layer, then it will be accessible in other scenes. Then from there you can just copy it into your main layer of what ever scene you want.
@Murtaza thank you, in fact I discovered that workaround yesterday!
I think HyperPad is really impressive, I’ve tried some “no coding” game engines before with no success before and HyperPad is the first one I was able to understand intuitively and make something that works easily. I think it’s really amazing for visual thinkers and intuitive people, I hope you guys are doing well with it so that it can grow. Is there any app similar for desktop or do you plan a desktop version? I guess a Mac version would be feasible, right?
Thank you! Thats great to hear.
We've been working on our app for almost 10 years so, no intentions of going anywhere. While we don't have a huge public following, we're still committed to improving and making hyperPad the best and most approachable development platform.
If you have a macbook that uses Apples M1 chips (non intel), then hyperPad will work on the macbook as these macbooks can run iPad apps.
However the experience isn't exactly optimized for desktop. It is planned though! A bit further off though, so no dates or any thing. It's more of an idea scribbled down somewhere right now.
@Murtaza great! I guess you only need one game making headlines or some other random user video going viral on TikTok, hehehe. Meanwhile you are doing a great job.
Yes, I have an M1 Mac and although I know I can run iPad apps, I never use that, but it’s an option!.
In the meantime since I just want to make small projects for learning I’ve chosen GDevelop, It has a bit of the feeling of Hyperpad but I find the node system much more intuitive an elegant than the blocks and vertical logic of GDevelop. I hope you get some investment and hire some developers to make the Mac version 😆. I wish you the best.
@Juan-Romero GDevelop is pretty cool too!
I agree about the node based system. Thats one thing we considered when we started working on our behaviour system.
You should be able to download hyperPad for free on your mac from the app store if you wanted to try it there as well.
@Murtaza I’ve tried to download Hyperpad in my Mac but I have to buy It again, since it’s a different OS it doesn’t let me just download it. It’s a shame but maybe I’ll buy it again.
