Hey hyperPad creators, hyperPad 2.7 has arrived.

We've rebuilt the behaviour logic system to improve performance across the engine, making game creation faster and more efficient on iPad.

Run up to 96× more objects at 60 FPS, reduce memory usage, and build larger, more complex projects. This update also adds new creator controls and includes more than 40 fixes across the Hub, animations, physics, shaders, prefabs, and other core systems.

    Download hyperPad 2.7 now

    New Features:

    • The entire behavior logic system has been reworked behind the scenes, resulting in significant performance improvements and reduced memory usage.
    • Added language selection in user settings.
    • Added camera anchors: adjust how the camera repositions itself when switching aspect ratios.
    • You can now disable antialiasing for TTF fonts and BM fonts, allowing for crisp pixelated labels.
    • Added ability to adjust text dimensions and alignment of TTFLabels on the fly in the Set Label behavior.
    • Rotate By, Skew By and Scale By behaviors have been tweaked to allow multiple animations to run in parallel to match Move By behaviors.
    • The Modify Array behavior can now delete an element by value instead of index.

    Bug Fixes:

    • Fixed the top toolbar in the editor being obscured by the status bar.
    • Fixed the live preview of setting the initial camera position in the editor.
    • Fixed numerous memory leaks.
    • Fixed the original project file being removed from the source after being imported.
    • Fixed the "dunk" noise that played when pressing keys on MacOS while playing projects.
    • Fixed an issue that caused bullets to not fire when the object was switching layers.
    • Fixed physics attachments not persisting when the object's collisions were changed.
    • Fixed an issue where the Edit Text Field behavior failed to edit another label after immediately dismissing one.
    • Fixed the Math Function behavior returning an incorrect value for the factorial function.
    • Fixed a visual bug in the Joystick Controlled behavior where a dropdown would display two of the same option.
    • Fixed the anchor point being displayed for objects for some behaviors that don't utilize it.
    • Fixed Keyboard Shortcut behaviors not working.
    • Fixed a visual bug that caused switches to have the on and off states hard to distinguish in the dark theme.
    • Fixed a crash that occurred when spawning an object containing arrays or dictionaries.
    • Fixed the outline being visually offset from the object in the editor in some cases.
    • Fixed some Receive Message behaviors not working after switching scenes.
    • Fixed a bug that caused global behaviors to persist between play sessions in the Hub.
    • Fixed a visual bug that caused animated graphic prefabs to display the entire spritesheet instead of a frame.
    • Fixed an issue where creating a prefab of a prefab creates a blank object.
    • Fixed a visual bug where replacing or editing an image did not update the sprite in the editor in real-time.
    • Fixed an issue that caused awards to be awarded multiple times.
    • Fixed a rare crash that occurred when playing projects in the Hub.
    • Fixed a visual bug where the units and clear buttons were not visible on text fields.
    • Fixed an issue where Alerts did not appear in exported projects.
    • Fixed an issue where a bluetooth keyboard was unable to edit a label via the Edit Text Field behavior.
    • Fixed a crash that was caused when entering blank credentials on the sign up page.
    • Fixed a crash that occurred when an object that had multiple shaders had all shaders removed.
    • Fixed a crash that was caused by preloading scenes with Socket.io behaviors.
    • Fixed the direction parameter in Tilt Analog behavior not having any effect.
    • Fixed memory leaks with the Load Image behavior.
    • Fixed a crash that was caused by adding a pointer element that didn't exist in the Modify Array behavior.
    • Fixed crashes involving animations, sound imports, bullets and menus in the Hub.
    • Fixed an issue where Shoot behaviors did not work on scenery objects.
    • Fixed an issue where shader properties would cross-contaminate over multiple objects.
    • Fixed an issue where spawned objects couldn't jump.
    • Fixed an issue where Screen Wrap behaviors on spawned objects did not work.
    • Fixed an issue where arrow shortcuts on Keyboard Shortcut behaviors could not trigger events.
    • Fixed an issue where the On Start frame event is triggered on scene preload rather on scene start.
    • On Start frame events now trigger before the first frame is drawn on a scene.
