Hello, I’m looking to make a top down game. I’m a novice to game making. I’ve made a few silly once on different platforms, but I always seem to get stuck looking for a certain script or a tutorial on how to. Even just plain help. How user friendly is this platform for a top down game, Rts Roy style? Thanks for info!

Hello @xMGDx! Top down games are possible in hyperPad. :)

If you had experience with other game making platforms, you will definitely enjoy hyperPad! You don't need to look for scripts because there are none - everything is visualized as blocks. Each block has its own reference that explains how it works.

Not only is it very easy, you won't ever have to deal with crashes and errors when it comes to making immersive top downs. Everything is done for you without compiling!

@xMGDx FYI, top down is also a big feature - lots of people have been creating top down styled games ever since hyperPad came out!

I like to think hyperPad is worth it... But I'm biased 👀.

Seriously though, hyperPad is pretty great. It's fairly capable development tool, and can be compared to a lot of popular and larger tools.
That being said, hyperPad can definitely do topdown games, but depending what you want to make a lot will have to be made from scratch... Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I don't think we have many tutorials on top down style games. but I few years back, @Hamed made a sample project of classic RPG grid based movement. It's on the hub somewhere.

There is an unofficial discord chat that is more active than our forums. You can check it out and get more responses from actual users.

Thank you for the replies. I did purchase it shortly after I posted. Truethfully.. I was slightly disappointed that there are no starter packs for top down games in hyperPad. Perhaps I am wrong, I was tired last night. I’m a trucker. I got this on my iPad Pro, will put it on my laptop as well, but this being mobile is why I bought it.

I’ll hop on discord later today.

              Thanks again!
